Steering Key Lock
Read MoreOAKES STEERING LOCK. When trying to salvage my steering lock I had to grind off the peg that moves the on/off indicator. I was confused how the mechanism was held together, so I cut an old cylinder rotor down the middle to see how the spring loaded plunger was held in place. There is a key that holds the locking plunger in place. I drilled out the old broken pin and tapped it to 4mm and I will screw a 4 mm thread in place and secure it with thread locker. I chose 4 mm mainly because it was the nearest size thread that I had and it will require thinning down to fit in the slot on the back of the on/off indicator. I do recall being challenged by it all at the time so these pictures may help explain how it all comes apart. The key was not visible on my rotor until I cut the other one up.
