  • 1954 Buick Landau from the 1954 Motorama show (recent photo). The Motorama shows were the brain child of Harley Earl and intended to feature GM's dream cars. This Landau Buick could not be completed for the 1953 Golden Anniversary show so it was built on a 1953 Roadmaster chassis for the 1954 season. It’s easy to imagine that Earl incorporated some of the design elements from the 1929 Silver Anniversary Buick into this 1954 retro looking show car. The similarities are striking in that the trunk is obvious, the wide bumpers, small rear window, landau top, and extended hood all echo from the 1929 model. He must have felt particularly vindicated that the bulging sides were finally considered stylish.
