  • Bonnet’s (hood) Up . . . This new photo (from Jeff Randell’s research) was taken around 1932. Seen are two cars, the Goodyear Buick “Air Wheel” car and a 1932 Chevrolet. The photo was taken a Manchester Blvd and Southwest Ave in Maplewood, Missouri, a suburb of St Louis. Goodyear had the Flxible Co. of Loudonville, Ohio, construct two stretched four- door sedan bodies on lengthened 1929 Buick chassis to promote its new line of “balloon” tires for passenger cars. The two Buicks crisscrossed the US and visited Goodyear dealers while on the publicity tour. Interestingly, in this photo we see the Buick has its bonnet open.
