  • FLEXIBLE LIMO: 29-51 on top and Flexible limo underneath. Norm McKendry (54CC) sent this very rare photo of a 1929 Buick custom car body built by the Flexible Company. Flexible was originally known for building motorcycle sidecars and custom coaches, ambulances and hearses. They used a variety of manufactories cars but during the '20s Buick became a favorite base model to modify. They also built a number of Buick cars with custom bodies - often referred to as "professional" cars. They reportable built a total of 264 professional cars in the 1929 calendar year. Not all of them were Buicks but the above striking example is obviously based on the 1929 Buick Model 51. The following are some observed changes: * extended wheelbase (extended 40+ inches reported) * raised and straitened rear lower roofline * 4 hinges per door * side body lines appear more vertical •	sculpted body design below each window and echoed on built in trunk * 2 side apron lubrication doors per side * early radiator cap and wire wheel hubcaps * lights on the front fenders It is indeed a very handsome car. The rear seat of the model 51 was already very roomy so it's hard to imagine the interior space available in the back of this extended version !
