  • 29-54CCX - Not a very clear photo but this is a 1929-54CCX around 1951/52 during a tour of the south-west (Western Australia). The owners had just purchased the car due to being posted as a school headmaster in the country in 1951 and wanted a car "with legs" for the long country drives. The caravan was hand made by the owners. Advertisements, in 1954, show the car & caravan for sale as a pair, at the town of Merredin, after they were traded in on an Austin van.

  • Photo sent by Norm McKendry (54CC). Howard Buick’s display at the San Francisco Auto Show (Jan.26 - Feb. 2,1929). Noteworthy are: 1) Many cars have the windwing option (assume W/W’s were put on by Howard’s SF dealership). 2) Note the chassis and Fisher body displays in the background. 3) The model 44 (at the center rear) has an unusual light (tan?) sidemount and boot cover which I was black on all models. 4) All cars have the star hubcaps and flip-top rad cap  Both late. 5) Literature on a table near the centre. 6) Since the radiator emblems were discontinued on Sept. 16, '28, the ends were removed and the center portion attached to the fern stands in the foreground. 7) There are 14 out of 19 Buicks models in the photo and presumably more to the left. 8) The cars are outfitted with the new tread Goodrich Silvertown tires.

  • Pic. #1 of 7 (sent by Rick Beazley): Perth, Western Australia Buick (and Marquette), Oldsmobile & Vauxhall dealership’s new service station built mid-1929. This was originally ED Toe Motors but became Master Motors during the year. This dealership served all of Western Australia at the time. These photographs were originally published in Oct. 1929. Of interest; the first photo shows the first of three known 29-54CCX Buick’s sold in WA. This is an early series model, probably in Distingue Blue/Cairo Green. You will notice local manufactured bumpers as these export RHD models did not provide factory bumpers.

The Willys-Knight in the foreground right has very interesting upholstery. It also sports a spotlight drilled through the windscreen. The Buick being worked on next to it is a 29-49X and further back appears to be a light coloured 29-44X. There is at least one more 1929 open bodied Buick at the rear right. Not visible in this shot is a 29-27X Holden bodied sedan on the left.
  • Pic. #4 of 7 (sent by Rick Beazley): the main showrooms for the Perth Buick agency. The first photo is the original building as ED Toe Motors Ltd. This was taken around April 1929 when the Pic. #4 of 7: Two 1929 Holden bodied standard Buick’s parked in each driveway were first licensed. Although not very clear, there is a new 29-54CCX inside the building behind the left hand car (they have a distinctive windscreen frame) that is believe is the second 54CCX sold (the one in photo 6 & 7) as it looks to be a pale coloured car.
